Good news for Savernake Hospital, staff, patients and visitors as the shop, run by the Friends of Savernake finally reopened.
Closed since early last year the shop has been sadly missed as part of Marlborough’s Savernake Hospital.
First customer across the threshold in eighteen months into the newly opened shop was Barbara Harrison from Marlborough. Barbara, who works within Savernake Hospital had been one of the shop’s most regular customers.
Volunteers and hospital staff gathered to watch as co-chairmen of the registered charity, Pat Harper & Janet Louth, cut the ribbon and then welcomed Barbara into the Friends shop.
Barbara explained that the shop had been much missed by the staff and she was delighted that she could again buy her favourite sugar-free sweets!
Co-chairman, Janet Louth said during the following reception that many patients often arrive at Savernake without having all the things that they need to make their stay a comfortable one and this is what makes the shop such a valued service.
For anyone visiting patients, attending an outpatient appointment, or a member of staff, the shop stocks a wide selection of toiletries, confectionery, drinks, biscuits, snacks, greetings cards, paperbacks and just about everything patients on the wards might need during their stay in the hospital.
The Friends Shop will be open every week day from 10am, and volunteer staff will be delighted to see all customers. Click here to find out more about The Friends of Savernake, their aims, achievements and how you could help.
