Chilton Foliat Primary School has purchased new dining tables and benches to cater for the increased number of children attending the school and to enable more pupils to comfortably eat together in the school hall. The new dining equipment was funded by the Friends of Chilton Foliat Primary School in conjunction with SureSet Resin Systems who recently laid the resin flooring in the new early years’ outdoor area.
The tables and benches feature a timesaving design to enable them to be quickly and easily set up for lunch and, as the school increases in size, they will be able to cater for a larger number of pupils.
Chilton Foliat Primary School is one of the only schools in the area that has its own kitchen and dedicated kitchen team that cooks hugely popular, fresh, nutritious meals for its pupils. The catering team, consisting of Mrs Ness Dobson and Mrs Cynthia Ody, takes great pride in both the food it produces and the behaviour of the children at lunch time. The team have initiated fundraising initiatives to award good behaviour and pay for seasonal treats throughout the year. These include up-cycling used food tins and selling them to parents as shabby chic flowerpots and holding raffles at key times of the school year.
Headteacher, Katie Turner, commented, “We would like to thank both the Friends of Chilton Foliat Primary School and SureSet Resin Systems for purchasing our new dining tables and benches as they have made a real difference. Not only can the catering team quickly and easily set up the hall for lunch, but they enable the children to sit together comfortably and socialise with pupils from other classes. Indeed, the older children can often be found helping the younger ones to cut up their food and clearing the tables.”
