Wiltshire Council have announced they will be closing the section of the A4 between Beckhamptonand West Overton for at least eight nights in June. They will be doing resurfacing and associated works.
The stretch of the A4 between the Beckhampton roundabout and Bell Lane, West Overton will be closed between 7.00 pm and 6.00 am. The closure starts on Saturday, June 23 and it is thought the work will take until Saturday, June 30/Sunday July 1.
The alternative route which will be signposted involves a lengthy diversion along the A4361 (Beckhampton to Wroughton), B4005 (Wroughton to Chiseldon), A346 (Chiseldon to Marlborough) and A4 (Marlborough to West Overton) – and vice versa.
It is not yet certain whether both carriageways will be closed all the time and so it is unclear what the impact will be for The Bell at the east end of the closure and for the Waggon and Horses at the west end of the closure.
