In this hot weather we should all be drinking lots and lots of water. Better, though, make sure the bottle doesn’t have that DRINK ME! label…water’s essential, but being shrunk by a drink as Alice was, is not recommended.
Marlborough’s families can get a great taste of Alice’s world at Alice’s Enchanted Family Picnic that the Town Mayor has organised for Sunday, July 5. Priory gardens – just off the High Street – will be full of Alice’s friends and even some of her ‘enemies’.
All are welcome from 11.00am to 2.00pm. Come as you are or in fancy dress – bring a picnic and buy lots of drinks and ice cream.
Town Mayor, Councillor Margaret Rose has made a wonderful life-size – as in human life-size – White Rabbit complete with ruff and Marlborough’s coat of arms.
And members of Marlborough Young Actors and the Marlborough Players will be dressing up as a number of Alice characters. There’s a very Alice-type competition – with prizes when you recognise them all.
You might even spot a town councillor or two masquerading as Lewis Carroll characters.
