On Thursday evening next week, 28 March, at 5:40pm as part of the ‘Showcasing Local Talent’ theme The Parade Cinema will be showing two award-winning Shorts – ‘Confines‘ and ‘Censure‘, with the opportunity to meet and question the director, Richard Bazley who will be present for a Q&A session after the screenings, and also with members of his crew. An opportunity to learn what goes on behind the camera, set and production process, something rarely ever experienced especially immediately after seeing a film – or in this case, two. Cost – £10.
As well as cropping up in all the places that you’d expect film directors to frequent – Cannes, Beverly Hills (just back from there), Hollywood – Richard Bazley is local – Corsham, just down the A4. Likewise the members of his crew who will also be at The Parade Cinema with him on 28th are all Wiltshire based. And both films are locally rooted – set and shot in Wiltshire. So very much an evening of local talent being showcased in an environment akin to a Wardour St. Preview Theatre.
Emmy nominated Richard Bazley’s experience is substantial – click here to see his profile on the film industry website – IMDb. His film making bridges animation and live action, going all the way back to ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’?, itself a ground-breaking movie mixing animation with live action, through many of the great animated productions, to live action films and recently, these two award winning short films that are being screened in The Parade Cinema.
He’s played key roles in the creation of many well known and very successful films over recent years, such as Pocahontas, Hercules, Tarzan, The Iron Giant, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and of course, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. But ‘Confines’ and Censure’ are both his. Live action films, directed by him. And local.
There is a rumour that this session, or part of it (short interview) may be filmed as well, for a news programme. We don’t have any details but that is a possibility.
A unique experience on offer? Yes. One to be missed? No. Especially if what goes on on the other side of the camera holds any fascination or interest, with the opportunity to ask.
