Green Machine Computers in Ramsbury is busy supporting local schools and children by providing recycled IT equipment so that all pupils can access online learning from home during lockdown. But they need more unwanted laptops, computers and tablets to refurbish.
Green Machine commented, “Digital Poverty is seen across the local area with schools being allocated very few computers for children. Schools have approached us directly for help.
Unfortunately, our Stock is currently exhausted and we have so many needing equipment, we need your help to replenish it. Every item we collect we will wipe the data and refurbish and reinstall software completely. If required, we will also repair and upgrade systems so that all tech we have donated can be reused. With your support we can help children get access to tech at home and reduce digital poverty.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue are supporting us by allowing tech to be dropped at various fire stations across the whole of Wiltshire! Check out the following link for a list of donation points here ”
In Marlborough, unwanted IT can also be dropped off at Packaging Not Included and The Food Gallery as well as St Mary’s Primary School in Ducks Meadow.
Hayley Lambert at Packaging Not included said, “Millions of children are learning from home at the moment and not all of them are fortunate enough to have access to a computer or tablet. They’re missing out and that doesn’t seem right. There are lots of children in the Marlborough area who can’t currently join online classes and are in desperate need of IT equipment.”
Pewsey Firefighters posted on their Facebook page, “At the end of our first 3 days receiving so many fantastic donations, Pewsey Firefighters would like to thank every single member of the community who has donated a laptop, tablet or desktop…. Thank you!!
There is a real need; we receive requests from schools in support of this technology for their pupils.
Fingers crossed it’s only the beginning of many more still to be donated.
With the support of Green Machine, people of Wiltshire are now able to drop tech off at collection boxes at fire stations across Wiltshire.”
If you do not have any old tech and want to support Green Machine’s cause please donate via their Just Giving page here
Green Machine has been recycling IT equipment for companies across the UK for 10 years, at their Ramsbury site where you are welcome to drop other Tech equipment. For a list and more information about Green Machine Computers Recycling Process click here.
