A project to transform the Early Years garden and outdoor area at Chilton Foliat Primary School by raising £1000 has been selected for the Aviva Community Fund.
The crowdfunding campaign aims to raise funds to develop the Early Years garden and play area into an even more fun, safe and interactive learning environment. The school hopes to landscape the area, extend the mud kitchen, create a wild planting zone and install a new environmentally compatible surface area.
The project will maximise the potential of the outdoor space as a community project by inviting members of the older village community to be involved in the project. There is also a longer term plan to open up the space to local toddler groups.
Katie Turner, Headteacher at Chilton Foliat Primary School, commented, “Our youngest children spend a huge amount of time outside, learning through play and exploring nature and the environment. Together with our local community residents and volunteers, the improvements to the garden and outdoor learning area will help to underscore the importance we all have in sustaining our environment and learning about the importance of wildlife.”
The school will be working in partnership with local charity Action for the River Kennet (ARK) who are helping with the design of the area to incorporate maximum use of rainwater and other environmentally positive solutions.
The Aviva Community Fund, in collaboration with Crowdfunder, offers a helping hand to local communities across the UK by providing support and funding for inspirational local causes.
The school hopes to raise £1000 through donations to the project which can be found on the Aviva Community Fund website here.
