Burbage resident, Claire Presley, is busy collecting Christmas gifts for children who may have little or nothing under the tree on Christmas morning. The gifts will be taken to our local Salvation Army centre in Swindon where, with the help of Social Services, they will be distributed to families in need. The gifts must be brand new and unwrapped and can be given to collection points in Ducklings Toy Shop, Marlborough, or at Marlborough St Mary’s School Christmas Fair on Friday December 8th. Alternatively, Claire is happy to collect and can be contacted on 07787533677.
This is the third year that Claire has organised the gift collection. She told Marlborough.news, “With the current cost of living crisis this is needed more than ever. Last year we managed to fill a van and this year I’m hoping we can do even better. I am amazed at the generosity of people. Let’s see if we can really make a difference this Christmas.”
The Salvation Army said, “Last year, we distributed more than 76,000 gifts! This year, we are expecting the number of families requesting help to rise as a result of the cost of living crisis. You can help us spread the joy of Christmas to families whose children would otherwise not receive a gift. Please support us.”
