Preshute pupils, together with the PPSA (Preshute Primary School Association), have raised £355 to buy a range of new books for the school library. Today selected pupils went on a book selecting and spending spree in The White Horse Bookshop, Marlborough.

Mary Mundy, Deputy-head, said, “It’s very exciting – the children have been counting down the days until our bookshop visit. The children here are all members of the school council, which represents each year group, and they have put together a list of books to be bought.”

School librarians, Mathilde and Mollie, both in Year 6, told Marlborough.news, “We need to buy more books for our youngest children and also our oldest as most books in our library are aimed at the middle age-range. We definitely don’t need any more magic fairies books! Having books isn’t just about reading, it’s about challenging yourself and having fun.”
The money was raised in a variety of ways. Pupils were encouraged to do chores at home and receive payment for doing them. Some Year 4 pupils raised money by holding a cake sale and £70 was raised when pupils participated in a triathlon.
