Anya,7, who enjoys cycling, is planning to virtually visit her friends and family who live in different parts of the country and, at the same time, raise money for NHS Charities Together. Anja and her family, who live in Burbage, go on daily cycle rides in the local area. They calculate the number of miles cycled and work out a virtual route around the country to where their friends and family live.
Anya’s mum, Julie told Marlborough.news, “As a family, we had lots of activities planned this summer that we knew would be cancelled with lockdown so we came up with something to do together each day and started cycling.
After week 1, when we realised we’d cycled far enough to reach Swindon, Anya set about planning to virtually visit all of her friends and family, taking in Stourbridge, Windsor and finishing in Torquay. Anya came up with the idea of raising money for the NHS so we set up a fundraising page.
So far she has raised £278, she has cycled a distance of 189 miles, has had a video cup of tea with Nanny when we ‘arrived’ there and will be at Granny’s house in 20 miles! And all of this on a beginner’s bike with just 5 gears! We are all so proud of her and her perseverance and determination!”
Anya is making a weekly YouTube video to describe her travels. A highlight has been visiting Crofton Beam Engines, Great Bedwyn and Wilton Windmill.
