The announcement was brief and to the point: “We can confirm that Mrs Maggie Rae is leaving her employment as Corporate Director with the council with effect from 30 September 2016. The council wishes Mrs Rae well for the future.”
Maggie Rae, aged 60, had been signed off on sick leave for the last three months. But no further indication about her health or a date on which she might return to work had been given.
She had been in charge of adult social care services and public health – the latter had only recently been devolved to the Council.
Cover for those parts of her job and for others such as housing and public protection – have been in place while she was on sick leave and will continue.
