By 10am on Tuesday (April 3) the north side of the High Street was a solid queue from beyond the Town Hall back to and around St Peter’s Church. Drivers approaching the town from the north found the A346 backed up as far away as Bay Bridges.
The cause was not only the closure of most of George Lane for resurfacing.
Unitary Councillor Stewart Dobson has got the works on Salisbury Road suspended until after the re-surfacing work has been completed on George Lane and the London Road. The work being carried out on London Road on Tuesday, will now be done after 7pm.
The Thames Water work in Barn Street, which has held up traffic coming south into Marlborough, should be complete very soon.
There are road works on the A346 at Ogbourne St Andrew that are scheduled to finish on Friday (April 6.)
