The Town Council’s planning committee have approved plans to turn nine spaces in the Salisbury Road Tesco’s car park into a Tesco-branded hand car wash and valeting operation.
The car wash will consist of a cabin and a canopy. But councillors gibbed at the number of free-standing screens with advertising panels that will surround part of this facility.
Tesco had applied for four screens. Councillors thought that was too many and objected to the application. They wanted Wiltshire Council (who have the last word on such applications) to note that they wanted just two screens.
The cabin will be used as the office and store for cleaning materials and equipment. It will be metal, painted in a mushroom shade and will be clad in larch around its top section.
