A man from Marlborough was taken into custody after officers spotted a suspicious vehicle in Devizes on Thursday (October 31).
At about 5pm, officers stopped a Landrover Discovery in Folly Lane due to concerns it had been involved in criminal activity.
The vehicle was searched and several siphoning pumps were seized, along with crow bars and a variety of tools.
Further enquiries were carried out by officers which linked the vehicle to a burglary at a farm in Rockley on October 29 and the theft of fuel from a road sweeper parked in Hopton Industrial Estate on October 25.
A 27-year-old man from the Marlborough area was arrested on suspicion of going equipped to steal, non-dwelling burglary and theft from a vehicle.
Acting Inspector Pete Foster said: “This arrest was the result of the diligence of local officers who were aware the vehicle had been linked to a number of suspicious incidents on previous dates.”
“I hope this arrest is reassuring to the public, especially those living within our rural communities.”
