Marlborough Library’s Summer Reading Challenge has attracted 373 young people – that’s more than last year.
The challenge is for them to read six books over the school holidays. Eleven volunteers have been recruited to hear what readers make of each book – or they can write a short book review.
At each stage there’s a sticker and when they’ve read the sixth book they get their gold medal.
So if you’ve noticed the shelves in the children’s section looking a bit empty – the books are out and being read. Here’s at least one advantage of a wet summer.
