The Friends have recently approved a grant of just over £300 for the purchase of a mini doppler machine for the Community Nurse Team at Savernake Hospital. This will ensure that the Community Team can see patients quickly and make an assessment, and in some cases save them a journey to hospital for a clinic appointment.
The Friends have also agreed to a grant to assist with the purchase of two new portable defibrillators for Kennet and Avon Medical Practice – one for Marlborough Medical Practice and one for Pewsey Surgery – covering 50% of the cost.
A further grant of £10,000 will be made to Kennet Community Transport at the end of this year, which is due to be replacing their existing minibus in early 2021. The bus has been invaluable in providing transport for elderly people and those with limited mobility. The new minibus, complete with a modern tail lift for wheelchair access, will ensure continued reliability for its passengers for the coming years.
