A restaurant in Pewsey has had its licence suspended until 16 April 2020 by Wiltshire Council because it was employing illegal workers.
On three occasions the Home Office’s Immigration Enforcement arm found the Tale of Spice restaurant in North Street was employing people who were working illegally. On their latest visit to the restaurant in September 2019, they discovered seven people there who were working illegally.
The Council’s Eastern Area Licensing Sub Committee has decided to remove the Designated Premises Supervisor (Mr Abul Jashim) and make it a condition of their licence that proper staff records must be kept. A new Supervisor must be appointed.
Similar action has been taken against Tale of Spice in Chippenham.
These are first such cases to be dealt with by Wiltshire Council.
