The Sunday Times has ranked Pewsey Primary School at 113 on its list of the top 200 primary schools in England. This ranking reflects the number of the school’s pupils reaching level 5+ in Key Stage 2 English (that’s reading, grammar and writing) and in Maths.
And amongst state primary schools in the South West region, Pewsey Primary was placed tenth – one of only two Wiltshire schools to make the top ten. The school became an academy in April this year.
The Sunday Times also produced an online database combining the top 600 state and independent schools. In this Pewsey Primary came in at the impressive position of 162.
Headteacher Nicola Gilbert is delighted: “We are over the moon to feature so high up on this list, and to think that there are 16,000 state primary schools in England our ranking is a huge achievement.”
“We are very proud of all the pupils in the school, and we are lucky to have such an expert team of teaching staff to guide them…It’s great to celebrate such positive news.”
