An entry in the Small Towns section of this year’s Britain in Bloom competition in the South West is to be made by Marlborough Town Council following the unanimous decision of councillors on Monday.
Councillors Margaret Rose and Bryan Castle, who attended a Bloom Seminar held in Bath last month have reported back positively that the Town Council should take part.
“The organisers were delighted that Marlborough was hoping to take part,” reported town clerk Shelley Parker. “One of the South West judges has offered to visit Marlborough and help steer the town in the right direction.”
One of the town council’s aims is to involve the community – both organisations and individual residents – to take part, Councillor Nick Fogg reminding the council that the town did once win the competition, though he couldn’t remember the date.
