Mears Care Ltd, the agency which delivers Wiltshire Council’s Help to Live at Home service in people’s homes mainly across the south of the county, has got the all clear from the Care Quality Commission (CQC.)
After an announced inspection on two days in December 2015, the CQC judgment is that the service is ‘Good’ on all five standards. Their service was now found to be safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
During an inspection in June 2014 ‘significant concerns’ were raised about Mears care and a warning notice was issued. Two months later a further inspection found the shortfalls had not been complied with. The agency was stopped from taking on the care of any more people.
An inspection in December 2014 found improvements had been made but were not fully embedded in the service – and they found new shortfalls.
In December people told the CQC they now felt safe and the service had been ‘turned round’ and more staff employed to provide people with consistent care and home visits of an appropriate length.
