“Mencap needs volunteers, please come and help” says Mayor Cllr Noel Barrett-Morton, Marlborough Mencap’s President.
“We need volunteers to help with days out and Tuesday morning get togethers” he added. “The days out will happen several times a year and include a visit to a pantomime or day at the Zoo.”
“But the Tuesday morning sessions are regular, for a couple of hours each week in the back room of the Conservative Club on the High Street, where members can meet up to have a cup of coffee and to try out various crafts such as painting , sewing, model making etc, the volunteers are there to lend guidance and encouragement.” Mayor Noel explained.
Mayor Noel is president of Marlborough Mencap during his Mayoral year, but will carry on as Chairman once his year is over. “it’s a very important charity doing excellent work in the community” he added. “Susan, my wife and I frequently join the Tuesday sessions, it is most enjoyable and rewarding to be involved.”
