On Friday, August 7, at around 11.30am, a white Ford Escort van (CCTV image at right) was driven into the forecourt of Fraser Budgens. A man then filled canisters in the back of the vehicle with diesel.
It is thought he then got into the van and drove off without paying for the £112 worth of fuel. The number plate of the van was LD51 PFF.
The man is described as 6 feet tall, wearing a brown baseball cap, pulled down to cover his face, grey t-shirt and jeans.
Anyone who can identify the man or the van is asked contact the Crime Management Unit by phoning 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Rural crime:
During Tuesday/Wednesday (August 18-19) night police have had two reports of batteries and energisers being stolen from electric fencing in Aldbourne and Clatford. Both thefts resulted in livestock escaping from fields.
Police are appealing for people to be on the look out for any suspicious activity or vehicles in these areas.
