Firefighters at Marlborough Fire Station have raised £250 in support of the work of Kennet Community Transport’s minibus that every weekday brings people of limited mobility to Marlborough’s day centres, in particular the Jubilee Centre in the High Street.
The donation will go the charity’s new Peugeot bus, which KCT has to fund both the insurance, servicing and testing which was once picked up by a Wiltshire Council grant.
And KCT has to put aside some £5,000 a year as depreciation against the time when it will need to buy a replacement bus.
In a letter of thanks to Station Officer Wayne Presley, KCT’s chairman, Councillor Alexander Kirk Wilson says: We owe you and all your firefighters a big thank-you for the effort you put into the charitable car wash last year — and now the £250 you haven given us. It is invaluable.”
