Wiltshire’s rebel Independent councillors Jeff Osborn and Terry Chivers are making a late bid to try and save the funding for the transport Link Service across the county, now under threat from budget cuts.
They are putting down an amendment in a bid to save the funding for the service at the full meeting of the unitary authority tomorrow (Tuesday).
It states: “That this council reinstate the proposed approximate £14,000 budget cut in support for the highly valued Link Schemes across the county.”
“This must be the meanest cut that I have ever seen at Wiltshire Council,” Jeff Osborn told Marlborough News Online. “We are talking about such a small amount of money that this small amount can surly be found from savings elsewhere.”
And Councillor Chivers added: “Even if we make to increase council tax to pay for this it would only mean a rise of 0.00008 per cent – and it would mean just a few pence per year on the council tax bill.”
