The seventieth anniversary of the extraordinary Dam Busters bombing raid of the Second World War falls on Friday, May 17. That evening you can hear Marlborough College Symphony Orchestra play the famous Dam Busters’ March – the theme from the film that fixed the 617 Squadron’s raid with its ‘bouncing bombs’ in so many people’s minds.
The Orchestra will be playing other famous film themes including music from Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean and Mission Impossible.
The concert is free and no tickets are needed. Just turn up at the Memorial Hall in good time for the 7.45 pm start.
With the College music department’s instrumental ensembles, the concert will also include music from Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, the last movement of Malcolm Arnold’s Clarinet Concerto No. 1, and two movements of Koussevitsky’s Double Bass Concerto.
