Marlborough & District Rotary Club are holding a ‘Know Your Blood Pressure’ session at the Jubilee Centre in the High Street this Saturday, May 4 from 10.00 am till 4.00 pm. The Centre is on the south side of the High Street near the Oxfam bookshop.
They will have on hand a Rotarian who is a retired GP, and are expecting nurse volunteers to help with the readings. It is free and takes no more than 5-10 minutes.
Acknowledging the importance of blood pressure in strokes and heart attacks, Rotary Clubs across the country are holding these ‘Know Your Blood Pressure’ sessions, in conjunction with the Stroke Association, to raise the general level of understanding about blood pressure and the importance of regularly checking and of controlling blood pressure.
Although high blood pressure is one of the main causes of strokes and heart attacks, it usually has no obvious symptoms and people often do not realise they are at risk until it is too late.
