People in the Marlborough area who are caring for a family member with dementia at home are being invited to a free training course run by Alzheimer’s Support.
The six weekly sessions will help people understand more about the different types of dementia and how their relative may be affected. There will be information about finding practical support in the community and sessions on the financial and legal aspects of caring.
Chief executive of Alzheimer’s Support Babs Harris knows that caring for a family member who has dementia can be isolating and stressful: “The information we provide can make a great difference and getting to know others in a similar situation and sharing tips and experiences can be incredibly helpful. Coming on a course like this is often the first step to getting more support.”
The sessions will be held at Priory Care Home just off Salisbury Road on Friday mornings for six weeks from September 9 to October 14. They are funded by Wiltshire Council and delivered by experts in their field.
