Marlborough Town Council announced today, April 26, that two companies Giganet and Gigaclear, have plans to install fibre wiring to bring fast broadband to the town.
Some work has started already and will continue for at least a year until around April 2023. The work will involve creating trenches and thus traffic lights and road closures.
The Town Council has advised both companies of dates to avoid, such as Remembrance and Mop Fair weekends. They have also requested that any traffic management required at key points in the town such as the A4/A346 intersection includes managing the traffic priority system so that they can deal with real time backlogs as they form; not setting up traffic restrictions in advance of work actually starting. The Town Council have requested that the companies work outside peak school run hours and in school holidays.
If you’d like to stay ahead of any planned roadworks remember you can sign up for email alerts, or search an online map, at https://one.network/ where you will be able to see current and planned works to Wiltshire highways: road closures, roadworks e.g. temporary traffic lights and public events.
