
People came not just for coffee but for the cakes made by volunteers in the parish, and for a sale of books and art – and Easter chicks. The last mentioned were of the non-squawking variety – not real ones.
A raffle included prizes from Movida Zumba, Marr Green Farm Shop and Crofton Beam Engines. There was live entertainment with folk songs from Clive Buckingham of The Crofton Stokers.
Amazing the organisers, the total raised has reached £1,646. With match funding from the Greenham Common Trust, the total now stands at £3,112.
The event was organised by Jane Leighton: “We were delighted that so many people came to support the event – the support from the community has been overwhelming.”
The GWH Radiotherapy Appeal aims to raise £2.9million and is now just over halfway to that target – at £1.5million.
