David Scheel has been called the most original musical humourist of his generation – and he brings laughter to audiences of all generations. On May 17 he is bringing his acclaimed show “Don’t shoot me, I’m only the piano player” to St John’s Theatre on the Hill.
Scheel has inherited the mantle of that great Dane, Victor Borge. He can play Bach with one hand while playing Andrew Lloyd Webber with the other hand, and he plays folk tunes as imagined by the classical composers.
He turns the lyrics of Waltzing Matilda inside out – which he is allowed to do because he was born in Australia.
He also does a series of wicked impressions. And then he will sit down and play a piece as though he was a skilled concert pianist which he obviously is – when he is not making you ache with laughter.
