Prospect Hospice is asking people in Marlborough and the surrounding area to become volunteers supporting care of local people needing the charity’s services.
The hospice is looking for drivers to help patients get to and from the Outreach Centre at Savernake Hospital. This was opened a year ago following a community appeal that raised more than £200,000.
With increasing numbers of patients now attending the services it offers, there are now opportunities for local people to become patient transport volunteers.
The charity is also seeking new volunteers to support its two shops on Marlborough High Street. The second Prospect Hospice shop opened in early 2015, and the success of both outlets has meant that the stores’ two managers need the skills and support of more volunteers to help run them.
Graham Biggs, voluntary services manager at Prospect Hospice said: “We know how generous the people of Marlborough are towards their local hospice, and we are now looking once more to the people of the town to offer their skills in these two, very different volunteering roles.”
“I would be delighted to hear from volunteers who can support our work in and around the town, to enable us to care for even more people in the Marlborough and Kennet Valley area.”
Last year Prospect Hospice cared for and supported around 6,400 patients and family members across north Wiltshire. People interested in the two volunteering roles should contact Graham Biggs on 01793 816193 or email grahambiggs@prospect-hospice.net
