Following an inspection in January, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated the Coombe End Court care home in the London Road as ‘Good’ overall.
The home, which is run by the Orders of St John Care Trust, was found to be good as regards its safety, effectiveness, caring and being well-led. In one other area – ‘Is the service responsive? – it was found to ‘require improvement’.
After the previous inspection – in January 2017 – the care home was given an overall rating of ‘Requires Improvement’ – and a number of action plans to improve the home’s care were put in place. A similar rating had been given to the care home in July 2015.
Coombe End Court can accommodate up to sixty people and has a unit on the ground floor for people living with dementia.
The CQC report notes a close relationship with local GPs and that nurse practitioners made routine visits. Some concerns were made to inspectors about staffing levels and inspectors made a recommendation about the deployment of staff.
