Devizes M.P. Claire Perry will be at Great Bedwyn station between 6.30 and 7.30 am on Wednesday, July 23 to hear people’s views on the proposed changes to the Great Western franchise which will come into effect in 2016.
She was recently at Pewsey station to hear the views of commuters. This time people from Marlborough and the surrounding villages who use the Bedwyn to Paddington service will be able to give her their views.
The two defined proposals in the Department of Transport’s documents are for either a diesel service from Bedwyn to Newbury to connect with fast services to Paddington, or a similar shuttle-type service to Reading for onward connections to London.
Other topics to be aired are the extension of the planned electrification beyond Newbury and Transition Marlborough’s plans to re-connect Marlborough to the rail network with a line from Bedwyn and a station.
Mrs Perry is now, of course, a junior minister at the Department of Transport and is already answering questions in the House of Commons about transport matters.
