The Prime Minister’s reshuffle has seen Claire Perry MP promoted so she will now attend cabinet meetings.
Mrs Perry remains at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, but her role – since the June 2016 election – of Climate Change Minister has been upgraded so that she will now attend cabinet.
Claire Perry was appointed Minister of State at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy on 12 June 2017. She was elected Conservative MP for Devizes in 2010.
Since she was first elected to Parliament, Mrs Perry has held several junior government jobs. Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Defence (from 2011 to 2013), Government Whip (2013 to 2014), Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport (2014 to 2016).
She resigned from the latter role apparently frustrated with her job as ‘Railways Minister’ and the troubles commuters were suffering on rail services in the south east of England.
Last month she represented the United Kingdom at the One Planet Summit in Paris.
