Bedwyn school children to be ambassadors to help save Africa’s elephants

Last week Claire Perry MP opened a special sale being run by Year 5 pupils at Great Bedwyn CE School to raise money for the newly launched charitable project, Kids Tusk Force UK. The pupils had made special clay bead strings for sale as a symbol of hope for every rescued elephant at the David Sheldrick Trust.

So far the children have raised over £1,200. Great Bedwyn pupils now plan to be ambassadors for Kids Tusk Force UK – visiting local schools to inspire them to raise all important funds to help save elephants from exploitation.

The £1,200 raised by the Great Bedwyn sale will enable the school to adopt an elephant and support the anti-poaching units that operate in the Tsavo National Park in Kenya.

Thanking all those who supported the event, headteacher Nicola Willams said: “We hope many more schools will register with Kids Tusk Force UK to join the fight to save Africa’s elephants.”
