And a cheque for £844 was duly presented to ARK’s Director, Charlotte Hitchmough by Fat Face’s Helen Buckle.
Charlotte Hitchmough said: “We are so pleased to accept this generous donation to help us look after the River Kennet, thank you to everyone who has contributed.”
On Sunday (April 24) ARK marked their Team Stream river restoration project on the riverbank behind Waitrose.
The Drop By River event was a chance for the community to see a variety of the Kennet’s fish and invertebrates up close and learn more about the river and ARK’s Team Stream project.
ARK Project Officer Anna Forbes explained to one of the families who visited the Drop By: “This is some of the wildlife that depends on a healthy chalk stream environment and will benefit from the Team Stream Project.”
The project was funded by Aster Communities and Thames Water Rivers & Wetlands Community Day.
And ARK volunteers put in over 200 hours of work improving the river corridor making it better for nature and a more beautiful stretch of river for everyone to enjoy.
