21st May 2011
Dear Sirs,
I am delighted to see that Marlborough News Online now has a Letters section, to enable local residents and others to offer their views on the subjects you are reporting on, now virtually every day.
I am even more pleased that you launched your website during my year as Mayor of Marlborough, albeit in my last days holding that office. You have undoubtedly made a mark and given Marlborough the kind of basic information people will want to know about – certainly as far as Marlborough Town Council is concerned – and give the town a dynamic new voice.
Your coverage of the Royal wedding events, organised by the Town Council, was not only comprehensive but was online almost as it happened complete with photogaphs. It even included events staged at Marlborough College, where Catherine Middleton was a student, something that made the event so personal to Marlborough.
That coverage showed residents too the improvements we have made so far to the Town Hall, which we are planning to expand as a true focus for Marlborough, offering facilities that will enhance community life over a period of time and at limited cost.
Do please keep up the good work.
Yours sincerely,
Councillor Andrew Ross,
Marlborough Town Council
