Sirs,
Please see below the photo of the final days of Christmas, with Rotarians dismantling the Rotary Christmas Tree that had decorated part of Marlborough High Street during this very unusual and somewhat sad Christmas season. The tree reminded everyone that Christmas is a time of giving, and that Rotary supported a special childrens’ hospice once again.
Marlborough & District Rotary have, for many years, supported local childrens’ hospices at this special time of year, and this year we were collecting for Helen and Douglas House, the childrens’ hospice in Oxford that looks after life-limited youngsters from Wiltshire and other surrounding counties.
Our part of Wiltshire, centred on Marlborough and Pewsey, has always been generous in giving to these special collections, and many people shopping and wandering along the High Street in Marlborough, or outside the Co-op in Pewsey, will have generously opened their wallets and pockets.
A total of £2,100 has been donated, and Rotary would like to thank everyone for their generosity.
Best wishes,
Gerry Hooper
