Sirs
Well it looks like the £1million plan to refurbish the town hall is fatally holed below the water line and is sinking fast.
My feeling from the parish meeting was that residents were willing to put their hands in their pockets to refurbish the toilets, maybe stick in some loft insulation and do up the bar, but baulked at the thought of taking on the long term loan required to give the building the total facelift needed to make it a space of which Marlborough could feel proud.
I find interesting:
- that billions have been handed over to failed banks – no outcry;
- billions are being spent on foreign wars where we kill people in their own country – no outcry;
- but £1million to refurbish a much loved building in our own community? Outrage.
Yours Faithfully
