Sirs,
I am sorry Mr Culley is disappointed with the shape and size of the towns Christmas tree.
It is, in fact, a “real” tree, with a real shape and real cones, recently cut and donated by a kind donor with a more generous spirit than Mr Culley. It is a metre taller than last year’s tree, is as tall as the high street lights and is decorated with 1300 lights which will all glow brightly at the Switch-on Ceremony this Friday, 21 November.
Of course, there are always those who prefer to criticise rather than contribute, but Marlborough Rotary Club is happy to put up the Christmas tree for the delight of everyone who comes to our town. The profits from our charity collections are going to buy much needed furniture for Naomi House childrens hospice, so we hope everyone, including Mr Culley, will contribute generously. Perhaps he would like to generously donate the tree next year?
Yours,
G S Hooper
President
