Sirs,
have just read your report on the Town Council’s planning committee rejection of the proposal for a care home off Salisbury Road and the quote from Nick Fogg; “The idea of setting up a second medical practice to accommodate this risky development seems to me absurd.”
He added. “It is over-loading the infrastructure. But we have to find reasons on planning grounds – and they are inadequate parking, over-development and doubts about the ecology of the area.”
I have no particular desire to see more care homes in Marlborough but I suggest that the principle of an alternative medical practice may in fact be a good one.
There are four dental practices in Marlborough and plenty of choice. If the service is not good, patients can choose another practice in town.
I believe competition is healthy and it is increasingly the case that medical professionals are running businesses as well as providing care for patients. I believe a second medical practice could be very popular.
Yours,
