A 9-3 victory at home to Ashton Keynes in the Wiltshire County League Premier Division following an earlier season-opening 2-2 away draw at Highworth puts them in 2nd place in the league behind Durrington FC Ladies.
Marlborough were unlucky not to win the first game at Highworth and decisions definitely did not go their way.
However, goals from Kerry Ash and Lou Carter ensured a solid point was well earned.
Lou Carter put in an outstanding performance against Ashton Keynes netting seven times as Marlborough dominated the game!
Cam Gale and Sarah Thomas added to the total to ensure a big win for the Ladies giving them great momentum going into this weekends match away at Swindon Spitfires. This game also saw the first start this season for ex Marlborough Youth Angel Lish O’Neill. The club have big hopes that more MYFC (Marlborough Youth) Angels will start playing for the Town’s Ladies team this season and joint training between the two clubs is already planned.
Manager Robin Simpson is delighted and said “It’s a fantastic start to the season for the Ladies team. Hard battle fought at Highworth, coming away with a point, and a great result with plenty of goals against Ashton Keynes. We need to keep the momentum going and continue to work hard for each other as a team and build on our results each week.”
Both Sophie Shine and Kerry Ash were injured in the first game and the club wish them a speedy recovery and are looking forward to having them back on the pitch when fully recovered.
