A brand new children’s picture book, ‘Henry Hedgehog’s Riverside Adventures’, written and illustrated by successful artist Caroline Mills, is available, just in time for Christmas, for a donation in support of ARK (Action for the River Kennet).
Caroline began creating and illustrating ‘Henry Hedgehog’s Riverside Adventures’ two years ago. However, the national lockdown of Spring 2020 gave her the opportunity to finish it. The story follows Henry Hedgehog and the friends he meets as he has adventures in a chalk stream, just like the River Kennet.
Growing up in Wiltshire near the River Kennet, Caroline has always had a close relationship to the river and its environment. Her grandchildren attend a local primary school where they have enjoyed many visits from ARK and learning about the importance of looking after our rivers and their biodiversity.
Caroline was thrilled to see her grandchildren’s love of the River Kennet and its wildlife inspired by ARK and so had the idea to create a book which is set in a chalk stream environment much like the River Kennet. The proceeds from the book will be donated to ARK.
ARK’s Director, Charlotte Hitchmough, said, “This book is such a joy. The beautiful illustrations bring the wildlife of the River Kennet to life on the page. We are so grateful to Caroline and her family for their amazing support.”
Caroline has already raised over £2000 for ARK by giving her book to friends and family in return for donations.
