A Community Plan has been devised for the area covered by the Parish Council of Fyfield and West Overton (F&WOPC) to ensure that everyone in the parish who is either vulnerable, sick or self-isolating and thus unable to leave home will be served with the basic necessities such as groceries and prescriptions. They are calling out for more volunteers to help make the plan sustainable across the foreseeable period as no-one can forecast (guess?) when this crisis will start to recede.
Sarah Nichols, Chair F&WO Parish Council said “We will help with picking up prescriptions, groceries through the Avebury community shop and with the Upper Kennet Benefice a friendly ear for those who are lonely or need to talk.”
Regarding volunteers, she asked that anyone able to help should get in touch with the Parish Clerk, Sophie Roberts via e-mail to this address: parishclerk.fyfield@googlemail.com.
We are closely monitoring government advice and will be dependent on the whole community pulling together, keeping an eye and lending a hand to those most vulnerable in our villages”. she added.
The statement from the Parish Council is set out below:

Covid-19 Coronavirus Update 17th March 2020
Are you self-isolating and no one to help?
Are you concerned about getting your prescription?
If you are in self-isolation because of the virus and have no one able to pick up your prescription from the GP surgery dispensary please telephone Jill Turner on 07900 223345 who will make arrangements for it to be collected for you.
The prescription must be ordered by you 2 days in advance as per the normal process. We require your full name and address in order for us to be able to collect on your behalf. The Dispensary requires a bulk collection if at all possible, therefore we would expect to make collections on Monday, Wednesday and Friday after 5pm.
Lonely and Need to Talk?
If you are self-isolating, feeling lonely and want someone to talk to please phone Sibella Laing, Licence Lay Minister on 01672 861600 or Reverend Maria Shepherdson on 01672 539643.
Are worried about getting groceries in?
Avebury’s community shop is ready to help. Telephone them your order on 01672 539200 and they will work out the cost. The shop manager will call you back when it is ready and take your payment using a bank or credit card over the phone. Please then notify one of the contacts below who will arrange for a community volunteer to collect and deliver to you. It would be sensible to keep it to a medium size shop, and it may take a day for the allocated person to deliver to you.
Fyfield: Lavinia Staddon 01672 861482 ; Sam Harvey 01672 861318 or 07713 586225
