As part of dealing with any future Flooding Incident, Marlborough Town Council are recruiting a team of Flood Wardens, volunteers who will be trained to help and advise the community, in preparation, response to flooding and recovery afterwards, if it does happen again.
In partnership with Wiltshire Council and Wiltshire & Swindon Prepared, the Town Council will be holding a recruitment session for volunteer flood wardens on 20 March, in the Town Hall between 6 and 7pm.

The role of a flood warden will be key in helping the Marlborough community prepare for, respond to and recover from flooding and will work closely with the Town Council and other partner agencies.
The Council aim to develop an active network of volunteers across the whole town. Ideally flood wardens should not live in a property that is vulnerable to flooding, as it is harder to fulfil their role if they are trying to prevent their own property from flooding, but involvement and input from those residents at other times would really valuable.
Also, It doesn’t matter if residents don’t live near a watercourse, there are many other sources of flooding too including surface water, groundwater, drainage and sewers. So, ideally a good cross section of volunteers across the whole town. Also they need people to help communicate about flooding events, flood resilience and help people at risk to understand how to be better prepared.
The Town Council are urging anyone with an interest to come along, find out more about the role and what it involves and hopefully sign up to the role! Full training will be given.
