Great Bedwyn is a vibrant village of approximately 500 homes with lots of clubs, societies, GP surgery, school, pub, post office, shop and railway station. We are an established Parish Council currently with seven councillors and four vacancies. We are currently seeking a new clerk and responsible financial officer to start as soon as possible as our existing clerk has moved away.
The role is part time, about 30 hours per month, and mainly home-based. Attendance at our meetings will be required. Our parish meetings are currently held bi-monthly with some additional meetings, so a flexible approach to the work is needed. Remuneration is subject to skill level and experience. The salary will be in accordance with the National Joint Salary Scale.
You will need good numeracy, literacy and sound IT skills. A working knowledge of Parish Council procedures and/or public administration is desirable, but not essential as training will be available. Maintaining impartiality, confidentiality and integrity are key requirements.
You will be preparing meeting agendas and supporting papers, attending and providing advice at meetings, taking minutes and overseeing the completion of agreed actions, updating the parish website, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other regulations. As our Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) you will also be responsible for managing the Council finances and record keeping.
