From Marlborough College Academic Review Summer 2021:
‘Taking on the position of Deputy Head (Academic) in this most challenging of years has given me a privileged view of the extent to which the College’s ongoing academic success is owed to the combined efforts of a huge range of individuals; pupils, beaks and the support staff upon whom both groups rely every day. This hasn’t been truer than in the work of the Exams Office in these extraordinary times. Seeing their superhuman degree of organisation and flexibility, matched by the care they have taken for every Marlburian during assessments across this term, has made me mindful of just how fortunate we are to have such a professional and compassionate team managing this important aspect of our academic life.’
Dan Clark – Deputy Head (Academic)
We are looking to recruit a number of Examination Supervisors to support the existing, experienced Examinations Team with the smooth running of exams next summer. The role will involve the preparation of exam rooms, supervising pupils during examinations, enforcing examination regulations and associated administrative tasks.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to handle situations in a calm and logical manner, be able to work independently as well as part of a team and who can commit to working throughout all our exam sessions.
Experience of examination invigilation is preferred but not essential, as training will be given. Awareness of a busy school environment would be advantageous, together with an understanding of the formality and importance of examinations.
You will be required to work to an agreed timetable of set days and hours (working either full days and/or half days) during the very busy A level and GCSE exam period in April, May and June as well as for internal exams throughout the school year. The hours are flexible and agreed in advance.
Rate of pay is £12.00 per hour (plus holiday pay rate)
Full details of the role, including a job description and application form are available from Marlborough College vacancies or hrmail@marlboroughcollege.org
Closing date for returned applications is Friday, 5th January 2024
Interviews are expected to take place during January/February 2024
