The Governors of Preshute C of E (VC) Primary School are looking for a Clerk to support our Governing Body
The primary role of the Clerk to the Governors is to assist the Governing Body by providing administrative and procedural support, enabling Governing Body meetings to run smoothly and efficiently. Working closely with our Chair of Governors, you will provide guidance to ensure the Governing Body is compliant with legal requirements and advise on procedural matters.
Previous experience or knowledge of school procedures is not essential. Training and a support network are available.
Governors are looking for a candidate who:
- Is keen to engage in professional development to ensure the Governing Body receives the most up-to date-information and support, in line with current local authority guidance and information.
- Is efficient and has strong organisational skills
- Has excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Is able to take clear and concise minutes of meetings
- Can build strong relationships and work effectively with the Chair of Governors and Governing Body to support their needs
- Prioritises effectively and plans ahead
You will need to be available to attend six evening meetings per year at the school.

Hours of work: 8 hours per month. The ability to work flexible hours is essential as some weeks will require more hours than others. The candidate is required to attend Full Governing Body meetings which usually take place in the evenings. There are six meetings per year.
Contract type: Permanent
Salary range: Grade E SCP 6-8 £25,183 – £25,992 (pro rata) / hourly rate £13.05 – £13.47

Commencement date: 1st September 2025 although there will be a handover period with the existing Clerk to be arranged at a mutually convenient time in June/July.
