The planetarium will be returning to the science fair, and visitors who book ahead will be able to watch Dinosaurs at Dusk, an immersive film which explores the origins of flight dating back to the first airborne lizards, and culminating in the cataclysmic ‘last day’ of the dinosaurs.
Also starring in the planetarium are animated alien Zula and his gang, who will be learning about terrestrial and interplanetary weather in Under the Weather.
The popular Bubble Science show will be returning to the theatre, and the Lego NXT robots will be making a return too.
While some of the events require pre-booking and the payment of a small fee, there will be a host of free activities as community groups including Action for the River Kennet, the Institute of Physics, Transition Marlborough, Crofton Beam Engines, and the Wiltshire Astronomical Society set up displays inside the school’s atrium.
General entry to the event is free.
The Science Fair takes place between 10am and 2pm on Saturday, March 21, and will be preceded by a number of evening lectures for adults: The International Rosetta mission to land on a comet with Dr Nigel Wright on Tuesday, March 17; The Magic of Oxygen with Dr Mike Batham and Dr Rob James on Wednesday, March 18; and Animals Behaving Badly with Dr Michael Leach on Thursday, March 19.
