Inspired by English celebratory traditions of noise, fire and music and Devizes’ own history, artists are invited to work with professional outdoor arts company Rag and Bone (www.rag-bone.org) across all aspects of the show.
Participants can choose from making visual elements using willow and scrap metal to creating sound, performing or helping to produce the event.
Devizes Outdoor Celebratory Arts wants to create a new Street Band for the show, too, and is calling for brass, reed and percussion players to step forward.
Jo Beal, DOCA’s artistic director said: “DOCA runs a strong participatory programme as part of its work and the Sunday Night Show is a new and exciting opportunity to get involved as a participant this year, whether performing or behind the scenes.
“No previous experience is in show production is necessary, just imagination and enthusiasm. Together, we will create a performance that will bring the landscape to life, that will summon up images of the town’s dreamtime and be immensely fun and exciting for all involved.”
The Sunday Night Show will begin at 7pm on The Green and process from there to a secret location where spectators and participants will be treated to a spectacular show – a landscape symphony of light and sound.
There is no age limit to get involved but participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
